Eyebrows are one of the most defining features of your face – so unfortunately, they require more maintenance than we’d like! From tweezing to plucking to coloring, eyebrow care can be overwhelming and exhausting. But this routine is a necessary evil if we want our dark, perfectly shaped brows to complement our features!
If you’re a bride-to-be, you already know how important eyebrows are to your perfectly polished look. Why not keep that defined look all the time?
We’ve got some basic tips to keep in mind to make the most of your expressive eyebrows – whether you wax, thread, or just hope for the best!
DO: Maintain a routine for your eyebrows.

Whether it’s every 4 weeks or every other month, make sure you commit to shaping and cleaning up your brows regularly. It takes time for the delicate skin around your eyes to adjust to the torture that can be an irregular eyebrow cleanup session – so try and schedule your routine regularly enough so that your skin is used to it.
It’s also much easier to cleanup stray eyebrow hairs the more often you maintain your look. If you pluck between shaping sessions, it’s easier to keep your eyebrows’ shape – so invest in a good pair of tweezers. The more you ensure that your eyebrows look good, the more they’ll make YOU look good!
DON’T: Get your eyebrows done too frequently.
The recommended time in between eyebrow waxing/threading appointments is anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. Plucking in between this time to cleanup and keep your eyebrows’ shape is fine, but getting them done more often than once a month can lead to irritated skin and damaged hair follicles. If you rid your unwanted eyebrow hair too frequently, it may never grow back – which could be a problem if you decide to change your eyebrow shape or if your skin shows signs of damage.
Give your eyebrows some time to heal – eyebrow appointments are rough on the skin!
DO: Learn about the different methods of eyebrow care and decide what’s best for you.

Waxing is great if you want less eyebrow hair and a thinner line. Most Indian women prefer threading because it’s more precise hair removal and it works best on thicker eyebrows. Both methods pull hair from the skin, and therefore both methods can cause damage to your follicles if not done properly. Make sure to research your eyebrow specialist and only go to places where you are happy with the results and aren’t caused too much pain.
DON’T: Alternate between different types of hair removal.
Waxing and threading pull hair away from your skin in different ways. It’s not good for your follicles if you subject your eyebrows to both types of hair removal at random times. Once you decide which method works best for you, stick to it – your skin will get used to the hair removal process and your next visit will hurt less!
DO: Consider treating your eyebrows with powder or pencil.

If you want darker eyebrows or a different color to match a dyed hairdo, consider using eyebrow pencils to fill your brows into the color of your choice. They’re a great way to make your look seem natural. Eyebrow powder also tints your brows and fills in sparse hair growth or gaps.
DON’T: Keep following a procedure if your skin is irritated.
If threading makes the skin around your eyebrows break out or a certain eyebrow product makes your skin red, stop using it! There are so many alternatives to shaping or grooming your eyebrows – don’t force one upon your skin. It might be difficult to transition away from threading, for example, but once your brows get used to waxing, your skin will thank you in the long run.
DO: Apply aloe vera or face lotion to your eyebrows, especially after shaping.

After you’ve plucked and removed all unwanted hair from your brows, apply a soothing lotion such as one with aloe vera in it. Your skin will be extremely irritated after shaping and the lotion will cool it down and prevent breakouts or dryness.
It’s easy to forget that the skin around your eyebrows is different and the hair is actually…hair. Unless you treat your eyebrows like you would any other skin or hair, they won’t be in proper condition. Apply lotion to your eyebrows when you moisturize your face to prevent dryness around the area. Always wash your eyebrows while cleaning your face – or you could find some uncomfortable pimples!
Take care of your eyebrows – the more regularly you keep an eye on them, the less of a hassle and more of an accessory they’ll be!
