Talented designer Gaurang Shah wasn’t the only one this year to use the traditions of textile craftsmanship for the runway.
Suneet Varma brought out the best of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and South India at Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week Summer 2015 resort collection.
The color spectrum went from deep and romantic red/sindoor to vermillion and then on to bright colors like fuchsia, pink rose and magenta.
The handiwork seen fastened together the different styles of India. Anarkalis glittered with all-over jaal mirror and thread work; while mini tunics with tonal embellishments were draped dhoti salwars.
More interesting detailing emerged from Suneet’s creative studios which kicked off the show. We’re thankful there was a limited amount of outfits from the creative studios because some pieces were too flamboyant.
But this bright red crop top with mirror work and short shorts are darling – definite beach wear.
Varma use a variety of fabrics: chiffon, jacquard, tulle, velvet, silk, georgette and lush cottons to create the collection. And his mastery of textiles showed.
Sheer net saris dazzled with grey and oyster pearls splashed with Swarovski Crystals.
Kalidaar kurtas in black, teal, ivory, and red were highlighted with Topkapi motifs.
Some more eye-catchers were velvet jackets teamed with sheer saris and swirling swishy light weight silk skirts.
This blue twirling skirt is just to.die.for.
The radiant and doll-like Nargis Fakhri wore a crystal encrusted red lehenga choli and dupatta, with complementing Reliance Jewels.
So so gorgeous!
