For those of you who know me personally, you will know that I’m crazy about baking. I don’t share many photos (because frankly my kitchen is the worst place in the world to take pics – thank you yellow walls and yellow tinged light bulbs), but I’ll never shy away from some delicious brownies or homemade macarons.
And when it comes to baking at home, there is no shortage of gadgets you will have. Cookie cutters, rolling pins, cake trays, piping tips, food gels, more piping tips, and the list never ends.
But when you’re getting married, you probably don’t want to put piping tips on your wedding registry, your guests may not know what you’re talking about!
From my years of baking, I’ve come up with a few ‘must-haves’ kitchen appliances for any kitchen. With Best Best selling loads of kitchen gadgets today (from fridges to blenders) along with their known collection of electronics, both you and your spouse can be happy to make the wedding registry list of your dreams.
Here are my four essential small kitchen appliance products to have in your newlywed kitchen:
Cuisinart – Smart Stick 2-Speed Hand Blender – Easy for whipping up batters and blending sauces or jams, you might not think this little gadget does a lot, but you’ll be proved wrong.
Cuisinart – Pro Classic 7-Cup Food Processor – Perfect for when you want to make pie doughs and do not feel like crushing hard butter and flour by hand. The 7-cup processor is the magic size for just about any baking and cooking. While the 5-cup is great when you want chop small quantities, the 7-cup has more versatility; anything larger is just *large*. I prefer the Cusineart version over the Kitchenaid version, but you should see them in person to make a decision.
KitchenAid – Ice Cream Maker – Want homemade ice cream? Then buy this. There isn’t any off-brand or cheaper version to get once you have the KitchenAid stand mixer, but the ice cream maker is worth it if you love experimenting with flavors (think of all the ice creams you can make) and you believe ice cream IS a food group.
KitchenAid – Artisan Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer – The granddaddy of them all, the Artisan KitchenAid stand mixer will be the workhorse that lasts you years. My last one, bought in 1999, is still around, and lives at a friend’s house now.
The only downside to the KitchenAid stand mixer, and none of understand why this hasn’t been fixed, is when you pour in dry ingredients into the bowl while running, there isn’t enough space from the top load. Inevitably, your mixer head ends with flour dust. You either have to turn off the mixer and tilt the head to load in the dry goodies, or become a ninja at dropping the dry stuff while the mixer is running (I choose latter since many recipes call for mixing dry and wet at the same time).
Besides this snafu, this mixer is my best friend. I make fresh whipped cream, macarons (hello hard whipping!), cake batters, whipped ganache, and so much more. If there is ever an appliance to go crazy for, the KitchenAid stand mixer is it.
If you do buy it, be sure to check the colors out IN PERSON or on people’s blogs. I’ve noticed that KitchenAid is not accurate at color matching when displaying the stock images.
