Kim and Manish had a gorgeous wedding full of vintage touches, traditional ceremonies, and so much love! We chatted with the photographer Priscilla Thomas about their day.
How did Kim and Manish meet?
Kim and Manish met while attending Ohio State University. Both were involved in the Ohio Union Activities Board, Manish producing concerts and Kim marketing those concerts. The two worked as a great team even before realizing they had any romantic feelings. Kim and Manish became a couple after three years of a budding friendship.
What was the proposal like?
Eight years into their relationship, Manish decided to surprise Kim. One night the two cooked dinner together. When Manish volunteered to do the dishes, Kim should have suspected that something was up, but she brushed it off. In a clean kitchen, Manish played the song “Overjoyed” by Matchbox Twenty, and asked Kim to marry him. She said, “of course!” and the rest is history!
Tell us about the wedding.
Kim’s and Manish’s wedding theme was an amalgam of Hindu and Unitarian traditions held at Harborside East in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Wildflowers Inc. created the mandap, with red linens and flowers. Incorporating their passion for music, the wedding included a concert theme. Manish designed a concert poster that also served as a guestbook for guests to write their well-wishes to the couple. And like any great concert, the headliners returned for an encore after their exit. In true rock star fashion, guests cheered the couple on with glow sticks in a one of a kind send off.
What were the personal touches Kim and Manish added to their wedding?
The wedding color palette featured royal blue, teal and coral. Guests also helped Kim and Manish add personal touches to their big day. A relative of Manish’s designed and crafted the bridesmaids’ saris and the best man ensured that no one went thirsty by bringing beer from his micro-brewery in Ohio.
Sounds like it was a rocking day (get it?)! Thank you so much to the beautiful couple and Priscilla Thomas for sharing these gorgeous pictures with us.
