Lakme Fashion Week 2014 was filled with so many gorgeous gowns and flowing anarkhalis – we’ve discussed each in our Lakme Fashion Week coverage, and even catalogued the stunning showstoppers for your leisurely oogling.
Now it’s time to take a look at the fabulous lehengas that hit the runway. As us wedding afficianados are familiar with, lehengas are handy for both as the bride and as the guest! Here are some of our favorite inspirational lehengas from Lakme Fashion Week:
This sparkly lehenga from Monica & Karishma’s JADE collection is probably too futuristic for an average Indian wedding, but it sure is lovely! The cutout floral patterns flows so dreamily, and I love the ombre effect on the blouse.
Anju Modi’s Garden Paradise collection featured some bold makeup, but the embroidery and patterns are pretty traditional. This cream and blue color scheme is gorgeous, and the mandarin-style jacket adds a welcome touch of fusion to a pretty outfit.
More from Anju Modi’s collection are these two lehengas. I love the purple, pink, and yellow combination – it’s the perfect use of pastels! Plus, the tulle and silk mix makes for an elegant, yet fun outfit.
This ombre lehenga is a brilliant display of a very common wedding color: red. The floral patterns on both the choli and the silvery jacket blouse add a happy pop of color to the border and top.
I love this black and gold lehenga from Tarun Tahiliani’s collection. It’s elegant and regal with that beautiful mango print pattern. The fun layering of the blouse makes for a truly unique and gorgeous outfit.
This dreamy blue lehenga is bound to steal envious glances – its sheer fabric and white-on-blue embroidery makes for a delicately stunning design. The light color is highlighted by sharper borders and can be further accented by some thick jewelry.
I love the pastel colors and thick golden embroidery on this Anushree Reddy lehenga – it’s perfect for a spring affair! The blouse is elaborate compared to the skirt, but the flowing nature of the choli makes for a beautiful effect.
So maybe this isn’t actually a lehenga, but this modern-day version from Sailex is pretty fun! I love the black and orange color, even though it reminds me a bit of Halloween. The winning touch is the orange blouse, which isn’t a traditional concept, but a uniquely fitting one nonetheless.
This sheer lehenga from Payal Singhal’s collection combines a modest top with a bold and sexy tight choli. The tight fit that cascades into a flowy white skirt with beautiful gold border creates a mermaid silhouette. It’s an interesting look into future fashion trends.
This purple lehenga from Nikhil Thampi’s collection plays on the whole “simple skirt, detailed blouse” concept – and it works well! I love the unique cut of the blouse and its shiny beading – definitely an eye-catcher. Even the otherwise simple choli is emphasized by a long slit and zipper. It’s a very trendy, easygoing, yet sophisticated outfit.
