Welcome to another Summer Sips Series! After an exciting run with the Lucknow Lemonade Spritzer, Jaipur Julep, and Nagpur Mojito, we’re bringing you a recipe from one of the most culturally significant cities in the world.
Some like their martinis dry, others like them dirty. I decided to try a martini recipe that incorporates my favorite thing about India’s financial center, Mumbai: the spice!
Mumbai’s spice comes from its high fashion, celebrities, and of course – the street food. This recipe mixes chaat masala (a key component of any Bombay roadside dish) into a jazzed-up martini for a drink with a little kick to it!
Ingredients (Cocktail):
2.5 oz. vodka or gin (depending on how you like your martini)
1 tablespoon of lime and lemongrass cordial
0.5 oz. vermouth
Ice
A pinch of chaat masala
Chia seeds for garnishing
Mint leaves for garnishing
Ingredients (Mocktail):
2 tablespoons of lime and lemongrass cordial
1/2 cup of tonic/spritzer water
Ice
A pinch of chaat masala
Chia seeds for garnishing
Mint leaves for garnishing
Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 5 mins
How-To:
1. Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
2. Shake thoroughly, and strain into a martini glass.
3. Garnish with chia seeds and mint leaves.
Enjoy that spiced, refreshing sip!
